Contrary to previous auctions, the catalog will be an eclectic mix beginning from lot one with an array of antiques, fine art, decorative arts, Asian arts, and American and European furniture. Fine art offerings will be highlighted by a casein paint, ink, and pencil on board illustration landscape painting by Ludwig Bemelmans (1898-1962). The painting is one of many important lots from a Blackstone Blvd., East Side, Providence, Rhode Island estate within the sale. Other fine art highlights include an Impressionist oil on canvas Fall landscape painting by LaMont Adelbert Warner (1876-1970) and an original pen and ink figurative drawing of a male nude by Leonard Baskin (1922-2000), one of two works in the sale. Decorative arts offerings will be highlighted by a fine Chinese rock crystal and jade mounted shelf clock and a large 19C. French Neoclassical bronze group of a courting couple on an ormolu mounted rouge marble base (36” tall). Other decorative arts highlights will include a French gilt bronze grand sonerie repeater carriage clock for Tiffany & Co. and a Lorinda Epply (1874-1951) for Rookwood Pottery Aesthetic bamboo and cherry blossom Persian blue vase. Asian arts offerings will be highlighted by an 18C. Chinese Junyao flower form brush washer and Chinese Qing Dynasty phoenix form jade amulet. Offered is a large selection from the collection of a West Warwick, Rhode Island lady including several jade bangles, ancient Chinese earthenware pottery, and a Vietnamese Dong Don Heger type I drum. Furniture offerings will be highlighted by a selection of period American and English furniture including two Highboys and three Georgian chest of drawers.
