Auction Description

Smithsonian Craft Optimism - Mira Woodworth by Mira Woodworth
Tempered float glass is used extensively in modern architecture and residential applications. Unfortunately, it is difficult to dispose of responsibly. Owners cannot put float glass in a recycle bin because most municipalities do not accept it into their recycling programs. Float glass is rarely re-used because it cannot be cut down and is often scratched up. Because of this, much of it ends up in landfills where it will take 1 million years to decompose. I reclaim this glass and remake it into the artwork that you see, helping to keep this non-biodegradable material out of landfills. Read more
