Please join us on November 17th at 9AM for an unreserved Online Only Coins & Jewelry Auction of material from multiple estates and collections.

Online Only Auctions at Pook & Pook are live auctions, not timed auctions. They run just like a regular salesroom auction with the lots being sold one at a time in lot number order. The only difference is that there are no bidders in the salesroom or on the phones. All bidding, both live and absentee, is taking place online through online bidding platforms. You can leave absentee bids up until a few minutes before an item sells. You can also bid live when the item crosses the auction block. Once the item is live, outbid notices cease. When the bidding slows down, a fair warning is given and a five second countdown begins. If nobody clicks bid during that five second countdown, the clerk then clicks ‘sold’. If someone does click bid, the countdown clock resets itself to five seconds and the countdown begins again. For the Online Only Auctions, we sell approximately 150 lots per hour. If you have any additional questions about how our Online Only Auctions work, please call (610) 269-4040 or email info@pookandpook.com. The buyer’s premium for this auction is 25%.

ONLINE AUCTION
Stair Galleries is delighted to offer a selection of Property from the Estate of Paul F. Walter, Sag Harbor and New York City on November 15, 2017. Walter was a legendary connoisseur, collecting in many fields including Asian Works of Art, Americana, Modern Art and Design, Ceramics and Royal Memorabilia. The collection represents Walter’s expansive taste and honed eye, combining simple, modern lines with ancient patinas, and delves deeply into the subjects of architecture, design and eastern philosophy.

Stair Galleries and Paul Walter formed a relationship over twenty-five years ago when Colin visited Walter in his New York City apartment and was intrigued by the eclectic collections of objects and art. In 2008, Stair was asked to sell over 500 lots of property from Walter’s country home on Ox Pasture Road in Southampton. The collections from Sag Harbor and the New York City apartment exemplify the interesting and full life that Walter led, and offer a view into the intellectual and aesthetic vision of a great collector.

We accept online and absentee bidding for this sale.

Our Fall sales follow the theme of collections lovingly collected and acquired throughout a lifetime and the joy, experience, and familiarity of tasting and learning about wine with friends and family. Most collections we work with are rarely bidden to the auction block more than once before arriving to us, instead, the bottles stand (or lay) the test of time, moves, marriages, friendships. Many of the collections in this auction, the Weston Collection, The Island Cellar, and the Elia Collection particularly, were carefully amassed by collectors for whom this act was essential and wine was and a fundamental part of the social tapestry of their lives, knitting friends and family closer together. We do our very best to represent the history of the bottles and the provenance so that buyers can appreciate the care and passion behind the collections that were carefully assembled over a lifetime. Wine lives on – vivit vinum.

Please visit our online sale from October 25th-November 3rd for unique trimmings from these remarkable collections – rare oddities, delectable finds, diamonds in the rough.

The first U.S. auction of rare, vintage NASA photographs – will take place at Skinner Auctions on November 2. The 446 lots will showcase the extraordinary photographic journey to the Moon and back as seen through the eyes of the Mercury, Gemini, and Apollo astronauts. While the astronauts’ primary goal was to record their activities, they were inspired by what they witnessed, creating images that transcend documentation. Over five decades later, the photographs are now appreciated for their artistic value as well as their historical and scientific significance.
