On March 24 at 11am Stair is pleased to offer two sessions of fine art, furniture, decorations, Asian & Ethnographic art in Jeremiah Goodman: The Art of the Interior; and East Meets West: Fine and Decorative Arts Across Cultures.
Our first session is a special single owner collection from the Estate of Jeremiah Goodman. Mr. Goodman was an acclaimed artist who memorialized the interiors of the elite such as Greta Garbo, Diana Vreeland, and Wallis Simpson using rich gouache and watercolors. His passion for great design was evident in his paintings where rooms appear to take on unique personalities and moods of their own. His collection features beloved possessions New York Apartment adjacent to Designer’s Row and represents an intriguing career and life spanning almost a century.
Directly following Jeremiah Goodman: The Art of the Interior is the second session, East Meets West: Fine and Decorative Arts Across Cultures,offering an exotic selection of Asian, ethnographic and traditional works of art from around the globe.. From the East we find Chinese porcelains and pottery, Japanese prints and scrolls, as well as Southeast Asian carvings. We meet the West with traditional Louis XVI, Regency and Edwardian furnishings, bucolic paintings with accompanying silver and porcelain table wares. A group of unusual ethnographic objects compliments the theme with African carvings, Pre-Columbian Style zoomorphic figures and pottery vessels. There is sure to be a category appealing to every collector.
