Two rose medallion platters with unglazed bottoms dating to mid 19th century. One platter with exceptional detail features gilt accent to each individuals hair and very fine enamel work. Unmarked. Approx: 1.75" H x 12.75" - 13.5" x 10.5". Provenance: From the Estate of Mrs. Sally Connally Hardie, Atlanta, Georgia. Connolly was a charity campaigner and philanthropist, Councilwoman for the National Trust for Scotland from 1978-1995 (the last ten years serving on the Executive board), and member of the Court of St. Andrews University from 1987-1995. A native Atlantan, Connolly's great-great-grandfather David Connally was one of the first settlers to obtain land in the city and her great-grandfather Joseph E. Brown was the governor of Georgia during the American Civil War.
