Issued by Apple Inc. in May 2011 and distributed to every Apple Retail location worldwide to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the first Apple Store (Tysons Corner, Virginia, opened May 19, 2001). Composed as an open letter from Apple Retail to its store employees, the poster comprises approximately 1,800 words of dense unbroken white sans-serif text on a deep midnight-blue ground, opening "In the last 10 years, we've learned a lot." and closing with the Apple logo and the line "What an amazing first step." The text recounts the design philosophy, customer-service ethos, and architectural anecdotes from the first decade of the Apple Store — including the closure of a Sydney street to install the three-story glass panels for the George Street store, the full-scale Regent Street facade built in a Cupertino parking lot to test the design, the 4,253-stitch embroidered Apple logo on Specialist T-shirts, and the switch from black to blue Genius Bar T-shirts to keep staff visible to customers. Distributed exclusively to retail back-of-house areas; never sold publicly. Mounted in a later white-painted wood frame with birch-ply backing.
Condition
Examined under glazing only. Image clean and saturated with crisp text; no visible fading, stains, foxing, or losses observed. Modern white wood frame with minor handling marks.
