• Lot Description
  Based on an earlier French Design, the 1840 pattern would be the standard until the 1860 light Cavalry saber. The sword has a brass thee branch hand guard, leather wrap and wire grip. Stamped on the ricasso on one side N. P. Ames Cabotville 1848, US WD on the other, WD ( same inspector mark on ricasso ) and J. W. R. on pommel.
