.44 caliber, 4" round iron barrel with flat top. The breech of the barrel is marked Deringer Philadel, and is stamped with a P on the left side. The lock is also marked Deringer Philadel, and features scroll engravings, with the hammer also having scroll engravings and a dolphin form. The nipple bolster has an engraved eight point star on it. The pistol features German silver furniture, including an engraved forend cap, engraved escutcheons, an engraved flash shield, an engraved sideplate, an engraved shield form thumbrest, an engraved trigger guard with a pineapple form finial and a teardrop form buttcap. The walnut stock is checkered, and has a pewter tipped wooden ramrod.
The barrel has a plum and gunmetal patina, with some very light surface pitting around the nipple. The stock has some nicks and dings, along with some light varnish wear, but is in very good overall condition. The bore could use a cleaning, but is good. The action is loose, but is in working condition.
