.44 caliber, 4 3/8" barrel. The lock is marked M. Dickson, for Moses Dickson of Louisville, Kentucky. The lock and hammer feature floral scroll engravings, with engraved screws and an engraved sunburst on the trigger guard. The maple stock has a pewter forend cap, along with a German silver heart at the thumbrest and a German silver buttcap. The pistol includes a wooden ramrod. According to the previous owner, less than 5 Moses Dickson derringers are known to exist.
The barrel has a polished and mottled gunmetal patina. The maple stock has some nicks and dings, along with a slight age crack forward of the trigger guard. The bore could use a cleaning, and the action is crisp.
