He was an Italian Dalmatian artist associated with Futurism. A self-taught painter, he was a late adopter of the movement, which he did not join until 1929. He is known for his realist paintings combining "speed, aerial mechanization and the mechanics of aerial warfare", although in his long career he also painted in other styles. His early paintings depict military aircraft, Aerial Squadron and Aerial Duel (both 1929).
