18 th Century Indo Persian Sword (Shamshir).
This sword or Sabra has a very radical curve blade and is of Persian design. The steel blade is still very sharp along it's cutting edge. There is a long fuller or blood grove that runs most of the length of the blade.
Size: From tip of the sword to handle is 39 inches. The blade itself measures 33 inches
The handle is quite handsome . The hilt is Persian in design with it's downward facing hand guard (see http://www.kavehfarrokh.com/iranica/sassanian-era/dr-manouchehr-moshtagh-khorasani-receives-world-prize-of-book-of-the-year-for-iranian-studies/ for a very similar handle. The hand grip is shaped and the pommel is lotus shaped in the Indian manor. The hand guard has gold wire at either end. The fancy iron of the hand guard has an embossed rosette with silver.
