* NIGHTINGALE, Florence (1820-1910). Autograph letter signed ("Florence Nightingale"), to an unnamed recipient. Barrack Hospital, Scutari, 8 February 1856.
4 pages, 8vo, on black-edged paper, spotting and browning particularly around folds, usual creasing. Nightingale writes in the last days of the Crimean War regarding the improper behavior of a Mrs. Howes. She tells the recipient that Mrs. Howes begs forgiviness for telling a falsehood, for wishing to return home, and for underhandedly requesting a certificate from the recipient.
