FIRST EDITION, FIRST STATE OF THE FIRST MAP PUBLISHED IN AN ATLAS TO DEPCIT CALIFORNIA AS AN ISLAND, Boston and Long Island not named, with George Humble's imprint. Engraved by Abraham Goos, Speed's map is the first to depict the eastern seaboard, from the Chesapeake Bay to Cape Cod, with accuracy, and names the early English colonies of "James Citti" and Plymouth.
