A beautiful and serene vintage cast metal statue of the Medicine Buddha, Bhaisajyaguru, Bali, Indonesia, 1970s.
The Medicine Buddha is simply cast, without excessive details. The Buddha wears a loose robe, with one shoulder and the chest exposed. His face is distinctly Indonesian, with a youthful and calm countenance. His hair neatly arranged in the typical rows of tight curls, rising to cover the pronounced ushnisha.
The Buddha holds a medicine pot in one hand, resting in his lap. The other hand is held outstretched over his knee, palm up, in varada mudra, the gesture of granting favors or wishes.
The statue heavily patinated. Mounted on a lack laminate base.
H: 15" W:10" D: 8.75"
Height of the Buddha only 13"
