- Lot Description
An attractive antique stoneware beer stein featuring a tall cylindrical body with salt-glazed cream and tan surface, incised ribbed bands around the upper and lower sections, and an applied handle. The stein is fitted with a hinged pewter lid decorated with fine banding and a figural bird-form thumb lift, with an engraved monogram “P.B.” to the lid top. The base shows age-related wear, scratches, and old numbering, while the body displays expected surface patina, glaze variation, minor scuffs, and firing/age lines consistent with use. There is one hairline crack. A handsome display piece with strong rustic character, decorative pewter mounts, and classic tavern ware appeal. Approx. dimensions (in): 9.25 x 5.5 x 3.5.
