Featured in this lot is this fossilized Walrus Skull (with tusks) decommissioned from The Historical Society in Massachusetts. The skull features a wonderfully and professionally crafted taxidermy construction that shows the head and the jaw with both tusks shown intact and complete and showing great preservation with the tusks held in by strategic wiring and the left tusk showing loose, and sports four teeth per top and bottom and per side of the jaw. The piece was decommissioned from the Historical Society in Massachusetts and due to its antiquity is legal to sell being over 150 years old being fossilized. The condition of this walrus skull is preserved with some serious aging to the skull with discoloration to bone structure and the tusks with the tusks either wired in or loose in their setting but otherwise shows a well preserved overall condition. The measurements of this 15 3/8" x 3 1/2" x 1 1/2" for the left tusk 15 5/8" x 3" x 1 1/4" for the right tusk and the overall measurements is 16 3/4" x 8 7/8" x 6". The collective weight of this skull is 10lb 8oz.
