This large outdoor scene was executed by Edward Deakin, an English painter who immigrated to America in 1856, lived in Chicago and did Civil War portraits after the war, then moved to San Francisco and became known for his paintings of the California wilderness.
In 1874 he exhibited a Lake Tahoe painting at the Chicago Academy of Arts, and that painting is probably very much like this one. The painting is signed in the lower right, and the overall size is 24 1/2 x 34 1/2 in.
and the sight size is 19 1/2 x 29 1/4 in.
