Robert Chase (1919-2014) American, Original Watercolor on Paper. Depicts palm trees and birds above a foggy shore and a darkening sky. Signed bottom left. Framed.

Robert Chase (1919-2014) was an American painter and educator celebrated for his watercolor landscapes and contributions to the Sarasota, Florida, arts community. A veteran of the U.S. Army Air Force, he used the GI Bill to attend the Ringling School of Art in 1947 before opening his own institution, The Chase School of Art, two years later. His work gained national recognition in 1955 when his watercolors for the Bradenton Herald Mail-Away were syndicated in newspapers across the country, which contributed to a local population boom. Chase also served as the artist-in-residence at the Florida Federation of Art and later focused on painting circus life and volunteering at the Marie Selby Botanical Gardens, which his former student, Marie Selby, founded. His pieces are held in the permanent collections of institutions like the University of Florida and the Ringling Museum of Art.
