German violin, probably from the Vils region and dating to around 1750. Its overall morphology, particularly the arching of the body and the form of the scroll, points to the Central European violin-making tradition of the mid-eighteenth century. The instrument shows a darkened surface and has been heavily overcoated with an additional later layer of varnish, which partly obscures the reading of its original finish. From a stylistic and organological point of view, it does not correspond to the Brescian school, differing clearly from models associated with Maggini and aligning more closely with German types related to the Klotz circle and other southern German centers. An instrument of notable presence, representative of mid-eighteenth-century German lutherie. Lot in international warehouse (within the EU). Intra-community shipment: no import duties apply within the EU. An export permit from the country of origin may be required.
