Chinese, 20th century. A garniture set comprising of a pair of finely hand painted porcelain baluster form vases with cobalt blue underglaze on white ground, the white ground being decorated with chicken skin texturing, each vase with tall shaped cartouches to opposing sides having landscape scenes filled with architecture and waterways, the alternate opposing sides each with two smaller shaped cartouches also holding architectured seascapes, the surrounding body of chicken skin punctuated by peony and chrysanthemum blossom swags, the round foot of vase with band of meandering key, the shoulder with a band of clustered floral and foliate patterning, and the mouth decorated with a band of geometric floral patterning, the whole highlighted with gilt. Unmarked. Approximately 9.75" tall, diameter 4.5" diameter. Provenance: From the Estate of Henry G. Muecke Jr., Atlanta, Georgia.
Both vases in excellent condition with light wear to gilt accents. Light wear to bottom of each commensurate with age and light shelf use. No other signs of cracks, repairs or damage.
