Charles Payzant, Hollywood water color painter, is exhibiting an interesting group of pictures in the adobe of the Mission Inn during the coming fortnight. The exhibit is of particular interest here because it was while vacationing in San Jacinto several years ago that Mr. Payzant became interested in painting. The artist had been doing commercial art for some time, but it is only during the past year that he has taken his water color painting seriously and his exhibit at the Inn is the result of the past year’s work. It is made up entirely of California subjects. Mr. Payzant uses color freely and in combining color with black produces striking effect. His work includes some colorful street scenes, several interesting boat pictures and marines, mission pictures and interesting landscapes, among the loveliest being Bishop Rock at San Luis Obispo.” per Riverside Daily Press, April 16, 1931.
