A Victorian gold gem-set brooch. The circular-shape greyish-blue gem collet, within an oval-shape garnet and circular-shape greyish-blue gem double surround, to the raised motif border and lock of hair reverse. AF. Diameter 3.1cms. Weight 9.8gms.
Overall condition poor. Scratches, discolouration and dents in keeping with general age and wear. Areas of the of the border are worn. Part of the gem-set surround is bent out of shape. Clear panel on the reverse of brooch needs repair. Pin does not close. Garnets medium redish-purple, fairly well saturated, with good clarity. Stones in fair condition with some abrasion and minor nibbles to the girdle and facet edges. Please see the Important Notices for Purchasers for coloured gemstones.
