  Christoffel van Sichem jun. (1581 Basel - 1658 Amsterdam) after Lucas van Leyden (1494 Leiden - 1530 ibid.): Joseph flees from Potiphar's wife, 16th century, Woodcut

  Technique: Woodcut on Cardboard, mounted on Cardboard

  Inscription: Lower left in the image with monogram: "CVS". Copy?

  Size: Cardboard: 11,3 cm x 8,7 cm (4,4 x 3,4 in)

  Description: The subject of the painting is a narrative from Genesis (Gen 39:7-21), which has been adapted by numerous visual artists. The depiction shows the moment when Joseph escapes from Potifar's wife and his cloak is left in her hands.

  Good condition. The paper is discoloured due to its age. The image makes a very good impression. The image is slightly rubbed, with traces of an earlier mounting on verso.
