• Lot Description
  Dominicus Custos (1550 Antwerp - 1612 Augsburg): Portrait of Leopold IV of Habsburg (1371 - 1411 Vienna), Duke of Austria and Count of Tyrol, from 1406 Regent of Austria, 16th century, Copper engraving

  Technique: Copper engraving on Paper

  Inscription: Below is the sitter's name and the short Latin inscription: "Iunior ambitiosus". On the reverse is a typographical print in German and the handwritten attribution to Dominicus Custos. The sheet is from the history work Tirolensivm Principum Comitvm. The Counts of Tyrol. From Anno 1229. to Anno 1600. Actual Contrafactures. Sampt Historischer Beschreibung, auß hieuor außgangenem Latein, durch dessen Autorn verteutscht von Dominicus Custos und Marcus Henning vom Jahr 1599.

  Condition

  Good condition. Light foxing is visible on the entire sheet. There are single dot-shaped rubbings in the image. The edges of the sheet are slightly bumped in places and occasionally torn. There is a coarse tear in the lower edge of the sheet, which has been fixed with adhesive tape on the reverse side. The impression of the print is fresh and strong.
