Gabriel Hornstein (before 1600 - after 1639 ): Outpouring of the Holy Spirit From a 12-part Passion cycle Styria(?), 17th century, Pen drawing
Technique: Washed Pen drawing on Laid paper
Inscription: At the center signed: "Gabriel Hornstain 1641 Jahr". Middle left inscribed: "G. Dreer inuentor". Verso numbered: "No 492".
Date: 17th century
Size: Laid paper: 26,7 cm x 19,8 cm (10,5 x 7,8 in)
Description: Depiction closed at the top with a round arch and indented corners. From a 12-part Passion cycle dated between 1639 and 1641. Because of the round-arched ending at the top, it can be assumed that this is a preparatory work for a mural. According to Geissler (H. Geissler, Zeichnung in Deutschland, Deutsche Zeichner 1540-1640. Stuttgart, 1979, I page 124), Hornstein's work is mainly copies after G. Dreer, who was court painter at Admont in Styria around 1620/30. The Pentecost scene from the cycle bears the inscription "G. Dreer inventor" in his own hand, and an "Annunciation to Mary" of 1639 in the Kurt Meissner Collection, Zurich (W. Sumowski, 1967, no. 9 with illus.), goes back to an original by Dreer in the Albertina (H. Geissler, op. cit., I, p. 123, C 33 with illus.). Hornstain is known only through a few drawings in the still late Mannerist style. Geissler has recorded 17 sheets by his hand. All your purchases are sent with DHL business customer mail (except small items outside the EU (see above) who are shipped with Deutsche Post Warenpost International). If a parcel requires a different transport service due to unusual size, we will coordinate this with you beforehand.-Shipping processing and duration
Once we receive your payment, we will process and ship your purchase within one business day. Delivery then usually takes another 1 to 3 working days within Germany. For deliveries within the EU, please calculate 5 to 8 working days. Delivery outside the EU can take 10 to 20 working days.
In the case of payment in advance, the period for delivery shall commence on the day after the payment order is issued to the remitting bank or, in the case of other forms of payment, on the day after the conclusion of the contract and shall end with the expiry of the last day of the period. If the last day of the period falls on a Saturday, Sunday or a general holiday recognized by the state at the place of delivery, the next working day shall take the place of such day.
