Justus Lipsius (1547-1606) was a Flemish Catholic philosopher, philologist, and humanist. He wrote a number of works intended to revive ancient Stoicism in a form that would be compatible with Christianity; the most well-known of these is De Constantia (On Constancy). His form of Stoicism influenced a number of contemporary thinkers, resulting in the intellectual movement known as Neostoicism. Lipsius taught at the universities of Jena, Leiden, and Leuven.
