(30),558;22 p., blindstamped, ribbed vellum with a later morocco letterpiece, folio (8 1/4 by 12"), with an exquisitely etched title page and an engraved portrait of the author by I. Suyderhoef. Upper end of spine repaired; two board corners expertly restored. In excellent condition, this bookplate features an embroidered motto on the inside of the front board: "Tueght allinne macket wiere adel". The first comprehensive version of Pier van Winsum's significant Friesland history (1586-1644). First published in 1629; our (posthumous) edition includes Martin Wybenga's "Laudatio Funebris" of Van Winsum, plus a second title page dated 1645 that is colored red and black.
