Jean Tixier de Ravisi was a French Renaissance humanist philosopher and rhetoric professor who lived from roughly 1470 to 1442. The majority of his writings on education were well-received and used by French academics. Eventually, Johannes Textor Ravisius, Nivernensis, was Tixier's Latinized name. Tixier attended the College of Navarre to study humanities. After earning his degree, he agreed to work in the college's rhetoric department, where he made an impression on both teachers and students. He took a job as the University of Paris' rector in 1520. William Manderstown succeeded him in 1525, at which time he held the role. As he continued to expand his main work, Officina, more than thirty editions were released.
