- Lot Description
African Tribal Art: Dan People, Liberia: An elaborately decorated and large Janus (Double-faced) Mask, Carved wood, late 19th/ early 20th century. The mask is adorned with multiple rows of shells, metal bands, metal upholstery tacks, strings of beads, bells, fibers and feathers. It has a fine patina and the incised holes at its lower rim are worn from their former costume attachments. The mask comes with a custom-made steel display stand.
Approx. 20H x 20W x 18D, 39H on stand (inches).

Good condition with evidence of use and age. The feathers atop the mask have need clipped-short. Some are loosely attached.Condition
