Emily Muir (1904-2003): Portrait of Benny. Oil on canvas, c.1950, signed lower left, professionally framed.
Emily Muir was longtime resident of Stonington and Deer Isle, Maine, where she created paintings inspired by the fishing industry and local residents. She studied art at Vassar College and at the Art Students League in New York. Her works are in numerous public and private collections including the Smithsonian American Art Museum, Brooklyn Museum, Farnsworth Art Museum, and the Portland Museum of Art.
30 x 26 inches framed; 24 x 20 inches canvas.
Private collection Boston.
Excellent condition with very small areas of paint loss; small areas of craquelure.
