Emily Muir was longtime resident of Stonington and Deer Isle, Maine, where she created paintings inspired by the fishing industry and local residents. She studied art at Vassar College and at the Art Students League in New York. Her works are in numerous public and private collections including the Smithsonian American Art Museum, Brooklyn Museum, Farnsworth Art Museum, and the Portland Museum of Art.
