Property from an important estate, Los Angeles, CA Note: "A commanding example of Bernard Venet’s iconic exploration of line, arc, and industrial materiality, this rolled steel sculpture embodies the artist’s radical redefinition of sculptural form. Celebrated internationally for transforming raw steel into expressions of mathematical precision and lyrical movement, Venet occupies a singular position in postwar contemporary art.
Emerging in the 1960s and associated with both Conceptual Art and Minimalism, Venet rejected traditional figuration in favor of pure line and spatial tension. His rolled steel works—at once monumental and poetic—demonstrate his masterful balance between gravity and gesture, rigidity and fluidity. Exhibited in major institutions worldwide and held in prestigious public and private collections, Venet’s sculptures are enduring statements of intellectual rigor and industrial elegance."
