EDWARD RABY FOR DOULTON BURSLEM; a hand painted gilded vase and cover on stand with gilded lion handles and red/blue poppies, signed "E. Raby", Doulton Burslem green backstamp to base, (circa 1886-1902) height 34cm, and a further Edward Raby for Doulton Burslem Art Nouveau gilded vase hand painted with blue/pink poppies, signed "E. Raby", "R.A. (Robert Allen) 2814" handwritten in green, green Doulton Burslem backstamp to base, circa 1886-1902, impressed number 565, height 28cm (2).Vase & cover: Very minor filled chip to inner rim of cover and gilding restoration to the point of the finial. Second vase: Minimal losses to the gilt rim, minor scratches to the painted floral decoration, vertical hairline crack to the interior of the vase which does not go through to the outside of the vase.

Raby was one of Doulton's most distinguished artists, famous in particular for his exquisite painting of poppies.

Bids to be received no later than 5:30pm on the Tuesday prior to the sale, or they will not be processed in time for the auction. Collections by appointment only, Monday to Friday from 9:00am to 5:00pm. Items that are suitable for posting will be charged at our standard rate, or you can arrange your own courier, by appointment only. Details will be sent to you after the auction. Small items can be transferred between branches free of charge (excluding Devon and Preston), but we cannot guarantee a date of delivery.
