French, 19th century. Empire mahogany wood pier table with rectangular black granite stone top above apron with pull out drawer with brass circular hardware pulls on sides of shield form escutcheon supported carved and gilt female figural busts above tapered square legs terminating on carved gilt bare feet. resting on rectangular shelf in front of mirrored back. Overall raised on bracket feet at back, large carved lion's paw feet at front. Approximate height 36.75", width 41.5", depth 19".
Painting has been relined. Under black light examination, retouches or in-painting on woman's cheeks and chin, some additional in painting on chest. Scattered craquelure commensurate with age, however paint layer appears to be stable. Minor paint loss at top center. Frame may be original to work. No other signs of damage, loss or repair.
