J. W. Benson (English, 1851-1897), 19th century. Slate and marble three-piece clock garniture, the clock having a drum head with variegated green marble surrounding the enameled white dial with black Roman numerals and recessed center with Brocot exposed escapement and Breguet-type moon hands, the dial signed J.W. Benson, 33 & 34 Ludgate Hill, London, the mid section with beveled glass and brass door to view the pendulum, flanked by turned and reeded columns and scrolled supports all on a conforming base with inset marble and two gilt friezes of classical scenes together with matching campana form tazzas. Approximate height of 17", width 13", depth 7". Approximate height of tazza 9.75", base width 5.25", base depth 5.5". Note: J. W. Benson was a noted watch manufacturer & retailer during the 19th century.
