Italian, early 20th century. A Queen Anne style two piece walnut secretary bookcase, the double-domed or bonnet upper section with a molded cornice above a pair of arched raised blind doors opening to an interior configured with eighteen valance pigeon holes, ten drawers and two small prospect doors above a pair of exterior candleslides, the base with a slant top opening to a complex fitted interior, having a central document door flanked by secret pull-out compartments and four valanced pigeon holes above two short and three long drawers, the exterior having two short and three graduated long drawers, all cockbeaded with feather banding and having individual locking mechanisms, stamped 'Italy'. The whole raised on bracket feet. Approximate height 90", width 45.12", depth 22.12".
Structurally sound. Overall very good condition. There are visible seams from the matchbook veneer. Left door interior with some lifting and cracking of veneered surface. Inset catch for the door lock is missing prevent door from firmly shutting or locking tightly. There are chips to finish on the legs commensurate with usage. Overall shiny finish to the veneer.
