English, early 20th century. A set of 10 mahogany Chippendale style dining chairs, the serpentine form crest decorated with acanthus leaf carving surmounting the vasiform pierced splat decorated with carved foliate c-scroll and flower motifs on molded shoe (armchairs with joined cyma curved arms terminating in scroll hand rests on cyma curved supports joined to seat rails), over trapezoidal seat upholstered in light blue silk upholstery with beige foliate motif molded seat rail resting on two cabriole front legs each with acanthus and c-scroll carved knees on webbed ball and claw feet and raking back legs. Side chair approximate height 38.5", width 24", depth 24.5", seat to floor 19", armchair approximate height 40", width 30", depth 24.5", seat to floor 21.5".
Areas of small knicks & chips, commensurate with age & usage. One side chair with professional repair to right stile. Another side chair with slight split to the wood on right back leg. Another side chair with broken & loose scrolled bracket on bottom. One armchair with two repairs, one on right stile and one on back seat rail. Frames on chairs need to be tightened. Rubbing to cabriole knees. Scattered scratches to ball & claw feet. Fabric is clean with no rips, stains, or odors.
