Cape Dorset, Nunavut Territory, Canada, last quarter of 20th century. Collection of two carved serpentine stone sculptures in the form of facial masks with pierced eyes, noses and mouths comprising of a larger mask by Taqialuk (Taqialuq) or Tuk Nuna, circa 1990, apparently unsigned, however with copy of certificate from Government of Canada; and a smaller mask with wrinkled forehead by Moe Pootoogook, circa 1996, signed on interior and with copy of certificate from Government of Canada. Nuna mask approximate height 5.6", width 3.8", depth 1.8". Mosesie (Moe) Pootoogook mask approximate height 3.8" , width 2.75", depth 1". Provenance(Mosesie Pootoogook mask): Eskimo Art Gallery Inc., Toronto, Canada, whereby acquired by the Estate of Mr. Joseph Gilbert, Atlanta, Georgia in 1996.
