A shortsword of the Konda (a group of the Mongo people in the north-west of the Congo basin), worn by men as a ceremonial and prestige weapon. With a broad, double-edged blade, rounded at its tip. Along its central axis, this blade displays a characteristic, deeply forged, pointed, linear geometric decoration on both sides. Scabbard and grip almost completely covered with decorative nails and wire of brass. The rear side of the scabbard is flat wood.
Dimensions: 19" long overall, 13.25" blade.
