- Lot Description
Short sword from the Luba tribe who live in the Upemba region in what is the present day Democratic Republic of Congo. Luba society placed great importance on kingship, lineage, and memory, which were expressed through symbolic objects, ritual regalia, and ceremonial weapons. This one is undecorated, sharp, and feels good in the hand. This is almost certainly the sword of a warrior not a ceremonial piece.
Dimensions: 19" long overall, 13" blade (sharp), 14.5" blade (to grip).
This lot may be picked up free of charge from our facilities in Sacramento, CA. Processing and shipping within the Continental US $55.00. All FedEx packages are sent with Direct Signature Required and insured at full replacement value for a fee of 1.5% of the purchase price, unless buyer accepts complete liability in writing. Condition
Blade has pits and some edge knicks. Handle has some cracks.
