Kindjal with horn grip in leather covered wooden scabbard with brass fittings. This example is for the most part unornamented with only decorative studs covering the grip rivets on one side and a small engraved flourish near the middle of the blade that may actually be a blacksmith signature. The no nonsense nature of this piece says it is a real working warrior's sword.
The kindjal or Khanjali is a short sword or dagger used in the Caucasus and northern Persia (now Iran) as a secondary weapon from around the 18th century, though, similar weapons have been used there since ancient times.
Dimensions: 23" long overall x 16" blade.
