The badik or badek knife was developed by the Bugis and Makassar people of southern Sulawesi, Indonesia. From that origin it spread around the Indonesian archipelago and beyond. It is sometimes referred to as a butterfly knife due to its shape, but distinctly different from Chinese or Filipino butterfly knives. Similar to the Keris, Badik are imbued with a supernatural force when forged. This example has coin silver grip cap and a wood scabbard with simple carving at the top. The blade does not appear to have pamor but it possibly exists and has simply been polished away.
Dimensions: 9.25" long overall, 6.5" blade.
