The mandau is the traditional headhunting weapon of the Dayak people of Borneo. For headhunting, people would gather to attack other tribes and gather heads to be used in various festivities. The mandau is also known as parang ilang among the Bidayuh, Iban and Penan peoples.
The handle on this example is made of carved bone.

Blade has some areas of oxidation. Should have a hair plume coming out of the pommel, this is now gone.
