Covered cylindrical coiled basket woven in fine plant fibers, likely sedge grass, with polychrome decoration in red, dark blue/black, and natural tones arranged in repeating geometric bands. The surface displays the characteristic “iris” style of dyed overlay weaving associated with Alaskan Indigenous basketry.
The fitted lid features concentric coiling and a raised knob finial. The weaving is tight and even, with a smooth interior and well-defined patterning throughout.
A tag accompanying the basket attributes the work to an artist identified as “Ellen Dock” and describes it as “Iris Eskimo.” This attribution has not been independently verified.
Dimensions: 7.5” H x 4.5” W
