Peruvian Chancay burial doll. During Inca and Pre-Columbian times the Indians were buried with all their belongings, believing that they would have use for them in their next life. Dolls similar to these are found at the entrance of tombs where they were placed to chase away the bad spirits. These dolls have been reconstructed with authentic fragments of material of the Chancay culture that existed on the coast of Peru, 400-800 AD. Plastic case with two dolls measures 12.5" tall by 9" wide and 3.5" deep. Other example with four dolls measures 6" wide by 5" tall.
