The balance is housed in a wooden and glass case, overall structurally sound with light to moderate surface wear consistent with age and use. The wood case shows minor scuffs, edge wear, and handling marks; finish remains intact with a uniform appearance. Glass panels appear intact with no visible cracks; light surface dust and minor spotting present.
The balance mechanism appears complete, including beam, suspension arms, pans, and central scale. Metal components show light oxidation and surface wear. No obvious breaks or losses observed from the images; operational status not tested.
Interior scale plate (Seederer-Kohlbusch, Inc., Englewood, N.J.) is present and legible with minor wear. The graduated scale and adjustment components appear intact.
Lower drawer contains a group of accessories including weights (some marked Ainsworth & Sons, Denver), calibration pieces, and printed measuring aids. Contents appear mixed and may not be fully original or complete to the set. General wear to accessories consistent with use.
An ink stamp to the interior base “July 22, 1947” is present.
