Used in northern Sumatra very prevalently by the Aceh and Gayo. Also used to some extent by the Alas and the Batak area. This example has a lengthy Malay inscription written in Jawi script on the scabbard. Inscription roughly translates to: "To drive away enemies. The invisible weapon. Perfect is the ancient word. Its purpose is protection and safety, and enduring well-being, peace and tranquility"
