• Lot Description

  Cast bronze bell dated 1878 inscribed "Saignelegier" (Canton of Jura, Switzerland) and "chappel fondeur" (chappel bell foundry). It has decorative relief elements cast in, including Swiss cross and floral motifs. The original iron clapper is intact, rectangular iron handle. Saignelegier is a town in the Swiss Jura mountains known historically for its horse fair.
