- Lot Description
A lot of two antique Chinese Export, Ming Dynasty, blue and white Kraak porcelain plates of the Wanli reign, 1573 to 1620. Deep plates with everted rims are decorated with a central landscape medallion surrounded by panels of floral and foliage ornaments. Colored in a rich, deep cobalt blue. The exteriors of the wares are adorned with swirl and geometrical motifs. Collection of Carl L. Сrossman label on the back side. Carl Сrossman was a leading scholar on the China Trade and wrote a famous book on the topic. He was long associated with the Peabody Essex Museum. Kraak ware, or Kraak porcelain, is a type of Chinese export porcelain produced mainly in the late Ming dynasty, in the Wanli reign, but also in Tianqi and Chongzhen. It was among the first Chinese export wares to arrive in Europe in mass quantities and was frequently featured in Dutch Golden Age paintings of still life subjects with foreign luxuries. Purchaser understands, acknowledges, and agrees that any Lot won from ANTIQUE ARENA must be picked up within fourteen (14) days of the auction date. Purchasers who have not collected their Lots within fourteen (14) days, will be charged storage fees of $5.00 per Lot, per day. Additional fees apply to oversized lots.
In the event the property is not removed from ANTIQUE ARENA's premises within one hundred and eighty (180) days the property may be offered for sale to recover any past due fees and expenses incurred in connection with such sale, including storage and moving fees, attorney's fees and expenses, and a 25% seller's commission.
