Cycladic II, Keros-Syros culture, ca. 2800-2300 BC.
A female idol made from white marble with yellow-orange patina and concretions, shown standing with her legs together. The head is rendered in the shape of an inverted triangle with a prominent nose. The flared neck follows the sharp lines of the drooping, angular shoulders, whilst the chest is delicately modeled. Below the crossed arms, there is a furrow, carefully traced across the belly and generally interpreted as a postpartum fold. For similar see: Musee du Louvre, inv.
