Western Europe, Italy, ca. 19th century CE. A striking miniature iron suit of armor of impeccable detail, complete with a spear, a shield, a cloth body filled with hay, and a porcelain face. Set on a wooden stand, the impressive suit comprises of comprising of a helmet, a bevor, pauldrons, rerebraces, couters, vambraces, gauntlets, a cuirass, a plackart, faulds, cuisses, poleyns, greaves, and sabatons. The helmet, cuirass, and shield have all been skillfully etched with scrolling foliate motifs and mythical creatures. The porcelain head is held in place by a wooden peg inserted into the wooden shoulders, while leather straps attach the pauldrons to the cuirass. Size (with lance): 5.5" L x 16.1" W x 34.5" H (14 cm x 40.9 cm x 87.6 cm); 36.5" H (92.7 cm) on included custom stand.

Missing thumb and tips of 2 fingers on proper left gauntlet. Left leather strap is torn with metal hook functioning as a repair for attachment. Some minor bending and small chips to edges of steel. Otherwise, excellent presentation with rich patina and impressive preservation of etched decoration.
